Issues Etc Canceled?!

That fantastic Lutheran (LCMS) radio program has apparently been canceled. Details will appear as I get them.

UPDATE – (ht: Fr. Chaz, Fr Weedon and Chrisopher Heren, SSP)

“Today’s a black day in the LCMS. Today the Synod ordered the cancellation of the popular radio show Issues, Etc. without stating a reason why, and terminated the employment of Pastor Todd Wilken, the show’s host, and Mr. Jeff Schwarz, the show’s producer. Folks, I don’t know about you, but I do not think we can sit by and let this happen.” from http://weedon.blogspot.com/

UPDATE: The Issues Etc Website Has Vanished – the page now reads

“Issues, Etc. is no longer available.”

Pray for our brothers and sisters in the LCMS as well as the families of Fr. Wilken and all those involved.

UPDATE – There has been some suggestion that a liberal(ish) movement in the LCMS has called for the demolition of hard-line conservative structures within the LCMS. This movement, known as “JesusFirst” (they smell like sheep…). They claim:
“We reject any insistence that the Gospel is best shared through one particular cultural form or tradition…”
“We reject insistence on human traditions or regulations which unnecessarily limit any legitimate use of God’s gifts for ministry among pastors and lay people, both men and women.”
“We reject practices that unnecessarily raise and maintain walls of separation within the body of Christ.”

Sound familiar?

And on another note, the Iron Sharpens Iron radio program is in danger! http://www.wnygspiritofny.com/ has made comments to the host that the program simply doesn’t appeal to the house-wife listeners of Christian radio (of course not, the listeners want CCC and “Apostle Charles Jones” sermons.) Please support both of these ministries by contacting their respective radio stations and letting them know that you support both radio programs.
